Tissot PRX Watches: Which Model Is Right For You
Picking a Tissot PRX looks easy until you see the lineup. The same watch comes in several sizes. Some run on an automatic movement, others on quartz, and a few add a gold bezel. Prices shift with each choice, and so does the way the watch sits on your wrist.
Hereβs the short version. Start with the 40 mm Powermatic 80 if you want the Tissot PRX most people picture. Choose 35 mm or 25 mm for a smaller wrist, and add the gold bezel if youβd like something dressier. Below, we explain how to decide, using real models from our Tissot collectionΒ at AZZI Jewelers.
The Story and Design of the Tissot PRX
From the 1978 Original to the 2021 Revival
The PRX first appeared in 1978 as a slim quartz watch with a tonneau-shaped case and a bracelet that flowed straight out of it. Tissot brought it back in February 2021, starting with a 40 mm quartz model. The Powermatic 80 automatic followed, and the family has since grown to include 35 mm versions and a chronograph.
The name is a code. PRX stands for Precise and Robust, and the X is the Roman numeral ten, tied to the watchβs water rating.
Design, Bracelet, and Straps
The flat, faceted case joins its bracelet with no visible lugs, and brushed and polished surfaces alternate across the steel. Itβs slim enough to slide under a cuff.
Tissot lists compatible leather and rubber straps for the 40 mm, and many models use a quick-release system, so swapping takes seconds. Check each reference first, since not every PRX uses the same fitting.

TheΒ Tissot PRX Powermatic 80Β is self-winding. Take it off Friday evening and itβs still going Monday morning. A Nivachron balance spring, designed to resist magnetism and temperature changes, sits inside, and many 40 mm models show the movement through a see-through caseback. The quartz version runs on a battery instead, so thereβs no winding at all.
Sizes and Variations of Tissot PRX Watches
The PRX family spans an unusually wide range, from 25 mm up to a 42 mm chronograph. Hereβs how our models fit that range.
40 mm: The Standard Pick
Our 40 mm PRX Powermatic 80, T137.907.97.201.00, is listed at $1,150, and it suits many wrists. Two other references, T137.407.11.351.00 and T137.407.11.091.00, are listed at $850 each. If youβre unsure, begin here.
35 mm: The Balanced Option
The 35 mm is often suggested for smaller wrists and sits closest to the 1978 original in proportion. Our 35 mm PRX Powermatic 80, T931.207.41.111.00, pairs a steel case with an 18K gold bezel and sits in our T-Gold line.
25 mm: The Compact Choice
For slim wrists, the 25 mm PRX T137.010.33.506.00Β is the most delicate option we list.
Gold-Tone and Beyond
Tissot has also released gold-tone PRX models, in steel with a yellow gold coating, plus chronograph versions. Browse our collection to see whatβs in stock.
